2009 Music Day
Music Day
The annual UM MUSIC DAY is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2009 in the Department of Music at The University of Montana. We invite junior and senior high school students to come to our campus that day for a full schedule of activities designed to acquaint high school musicians with opportunities at UM. Music Day registration forms for ensemble directors are available by clicking the link down below. If you are a student, and would like to register individually, please E-mail our Music Office to register for Music Day or to schedule a scholarship audition.
The UM Music Day includes the chance for seniors interested in attending The University of Montana to audition for Music Talent Scholarships. If you have any questions about the requirements or need further information, please feel free to call the Music Department office at 243-6880. Vocalists auditioning will be provided an accompanist and must be prepared with two songs from memory, one of which is to be in a foreign language. Scholarship auditions will be held on campus Saturday, February 21, 2009 or by appointment. Students unable to attend any of these dates should contact the music department about setting up an audition. March 1st is the deadline for music scholarship auditions and materials.

The schedule for UM Music Day begins with registration in the lobby of the Music Building from 8:00 until 9:00 a.m. then continues with:
9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Side by side rehearsal, Student performances, Masterclasses/Clinics
10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Master Classes/Clinics, with Voice students attending University Choir rehearsal
11:30 a.m. - noon Financial Aid/New Student Services Meeting
12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. Lunch (no host)
12:30 p.m. until completion Scholarship Auditions
1:00 p.m. Composition discussion
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Study Abroad
1:00 p.m. & 2:00 p.m. Campus tours offered
2:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. Side by side Orchestra rehearsal
