- Electives are chosen in consultation with the major advisor.
- Independent study may be substituted for required courses with the approval of the major advisor and the faculty member directing the study.
- At least 50% of the program must be at 500-600 level.
- Students must hold a bachelor’s degree in music, drama, dance or some commensurate experience to qualify for admittance into this degree program.
- Students entering the M.M. program in Musical Theater must take proficiency examinations in music theory and placement auditions for voice and dance at the time of matriculation. Students requiring further work in music theory will be asked to complete specific courses during their first year of study.
- Students are encouraged to use the summers for either coursework or internships.
- A Comprehensive Oral Exam is required at the conclusion of the professional project.
