Recital Credit FAQs
- Who tracks recital credits?
- It is ultimately the responsibility of each student to substantiate/prove the requirement of
154 recital credits. A record of credits for music majors is kept in the office.
- A 'MusiCard' for tracking recital credits is to be submitted each semester for your
permanent records.
- The signature of your adviser is required for submission.
- Who needs recital credits?
- All music majors are required to accumulate 154 recital credits to receive their degree.
- Recital credits are not required for music minors.
- How do I earn recital credits?
- One recital credit is awarded for each concert attendance; this includes 1 recital credit for each Pep Band and Marching Band performance.
- One recital credit is awarded for each performance in which you participate. For example, if the Opera Theater performs twice in one weekend, you would need to request credit for 2 performances.
- Two recital credits are awarded for each time you serve as stage manager for a performance in the Music Recital Hall
- .How do my credits become part of my student record?
- Record your concert attendance each semester on the 'MusiCard'. Be sure to obtain the necessary faculty initials for each performance.
- Total your credits each semester, perhaps prior to finals week, meet with your adviser, and ask them to sign your MusiCard.
- Submit your signed MusiCard to the office staff so they may track your total
number of credits.
- Any exception to the requirements listed above must be approved by the department chair.
- Where do I place my documentation?
- The box for MusiCards is on the front desk in the music department office.
- Please submit your recital credits once per semester.
- What if I wish to keep my programs as souvenirs?
- The office staff need only receive your signed documentation.
- You may keep your programs to share with your adviser, or for your personal use.
