| Musician's CARE (Creating a Relaxing Environment) program between Community Medical Center and The University of Montana Music Department seeks student musicians. Students can earn recital credits for volunteering time to play music for patients in a casual setting in the Rehab Center at Community Hospital. To participate in this program, call the Activities Department at Community Medical Center at 327-4299, ext. 7638, and schedule a time. Mealtimes (around noon and 5-6 p.m.) work best, as most patients have full therapy schedules during the day. All types of music are welcome, but keep in mind the rehab setting very often has brain injury patients, and softer music that creates a calming effect is best. My name is Grace Hutchings and I am the Life Enrichment Coordinator for The Springs at Missoula Retirement Community. Our senior citizen residents love to listen to music. We are requesting music students to have an opportunity to practice performing in a beautiful setting with a receptive audience. We have several settings in which to perform, and the residents enjoy many different types of music ranging from voice, choral groups, piano, flute, guitar, string instruments, celtic music, etc. Of course, we love volunteers, but on occasion, we can offer some compensation for performances. ___________________________________________________________________ |
