Strings
The UM Department of Music offers several educational options for the study and playing of string instruments. Private study with faculty is available for both music majors/minors and non-majors in violin, viola, cello, and double bass. String faculty are master performers and teachers who appear frequently in solo settings and as members of the faculty Piano Trio, Missoula Symphony, and String Orchestra of the Rockies. Students make regular solo appearances as well and may participate in chamber music ensembles, the University Symphony Orchestra and the Missoula Symphony Orchestra, all of which provide campus, community and state-wide performing opportunities.
