Study Abroad
The Vienna Experience
The Vienna Experience is a study abroad program through the UM Department of Music. This program is offered every three years to members of the Chamber Chorale, one of our performing ensembles. This year, students from UM began their classes in Vienna on January 23, 2006. Course offerings included an Orff/Kodaly Workshop, Art & Architecture of Vienna, Vocal Literature, Advanced Score Study, Human Values-Aesthetic Experience, Austrian Literature, the History of Eastern Europe, and opportunities for independent study. The Chamber Chorale performed in several venues from a repertoire including O Magnum Mysterium, Ave Maria, Lobet den Herrn as well as American folk songs such as Down in the Valley and the Mighty Mississippi. For 2006, the trip included travel to Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Venice, and Florence.
